Social Media Fears

At a recent seminar I ran with Lorna for Lorna Rose Training, one of the questions we asked the group is “what are your fears of social media and/or networking”. We asked everyone to grab a post it and jot down their thoughts. As you can see from the photos, there were quite a few!

Using Social Media for business can often be quite a scary prospect and here are a few things they came up with:

Privacy

Growing followers

Time

Nothing to say

Maintaining Reputation

What’s the point of it?

Information overload

Know your audience

How do you use targeting on social media?

Confidence to use it

But should you consider social media as part of your marketing tool kit? Remember that you should always be using marketing channels to communicate which your audience actually listen to! For me, the starting point to using social media is always research. Take some time to understand if and how your audience and industry use social media. What do your customers, targets and competitors get out of using social media and make a plan from there.

Take a look at my recent blog on Using Social Media for Business for hints and tips on how to get social for business right.
